THE RIVERBRINK ART MUSEUM-ONE OF NIAGARA'S HIDDEN GEMS By George Bailey
2011-11-29 11:07:45
| This museum that sits along the picturesque Niagara Parkway just below the escarpment at Queenston is different then many museums found in Niagara.
Once inside, what was once the stately home of Samuel Weir, a lawyer and an avid art collector, you'll be treated to spectacular collection of millions of dollars worth of prints, books, statues and paintings. There's even one room showing the works of the Group of Seven. Several of the rooms remain as they were after Mr. Weir's death in 1981. I can remember vividly spending many hours here studying the history of Niagara found in his historical book collection and viewing Niagara paintings found on the walls.
The museum will feature next year an exhibition focused on the War of 1812. The museum is open May to October and admission is minimal.
