RUN FOR FUN THIS SUNDAY IN NIAGARA FALLS By GEORGE BAILEY
2010-11-15 14:22:19
| If you’re a runner, walker or wheel chair user you’ll want to be in Niagara Falls this Sunday, November 21st.
This is the day the CAA Winter Festival of Lights traditional 2.5 kilometre, Royal Bank Fun Run takes place along Lundy’s Lane. This not-so-serious run attracts hundreds of participants. It’s a cross between a costume contest and a jog. Some push strollers, dance or a few even sing all the way to the finish line. There are no rules, no prizes for this run, just lots of fun. When I did the run a few years ago, I like many other participants, was in no hurry to finish.
More serious runners can do the five kilometre CYTEC Candy Cane Lane Race that occurs at the same time. The first male and female winners get a $250.00 prize.
You can register for both runs at the Cairn Croft on Lundy’s Lane at 9:30 am. The races start at 10:30 am. Registration fees for the Candy Cane Race is $35.00, Fun Race $15.00 for Adults and $7.00 for kids 12 and under. Register on line before Nov. 19th at www.wfol.com and receive a discount. Bring along some canned goods for the local Niagara Falls Food bank. After the race you can gather at the Cairn Croft for a $7.00 pasta meal. I hope to see you there. I’ll be the guy in the shorts and sandals. Hey, remember it’s a fun run.
