When October rolls around I’m always reminded of the time I spent with Princess Diana and Princes William and Harry when they visited Niagara Falls on October 26, 1991.
I had the pleasure to escort them, with Niagara Parks Chair Pam Walker, on a tour of Niagara Falls. We took them to the brink of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls where they took time to mingle with the large crowd that had assembled.
Then it was a private lunch at the, Niagara Falls Parks Victoria Park Restaurant overlooking the falls. Conversation with Princess Diana was easy. She was a real lady and genuinely seemed interested in anything you told her about the falls. One thing that stands out is that, both Prince Harry and William cleared their lunch plates to a nearby stand and thanked the staff for the “lovely lunch”.
Following lunch we had a private ride aboard the world famous Maid of the Mist. It’s here she allowed me to take photos of them (both poised and candid) as we travelled to the “shoe” of the falls.
When we said goodbye after the trip all three addressed us by name and thanked us for showing them the falls. A few months later I received a note from her staff that I’ve attached to this blog.

Amanda O'Donovan Interesting that Princess Diana's staff member refers to Prince Harry as Henry! Oops! Shows the value of proofing before you communicate. And so ironic, as the royal trio was obviously so careful to memorize the names of the people they met.
George Bailey Amanda, I've looked at that letter several times and never noticed the spelling error. Good for you.
George Bailey Amanda, I did a bit more checking in the name Prince Harry. Apparently the Lieutenant Commander was correct in calling him Prince Henry. Wikapedia says his full name is Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, commonly known as Prince Harry. We learn something new every day.
