I was recently at the Ontario Tourism Centre in Niagara Falls where they had an open house to celebrate Ontario Tourism Week (June 7-13th). I hadn't been there for a while and forgot what a great free service these folks provide for the people seeking information on Ontario. Here's a few things I learned:
- over 300,000 people in Ontario are directly or indirectly employed by the tourism industry,
- In 2008,tourism spending in Ontario was 23 billion(yes, that's with a B!),
- There are 18 Ontario Travel Information Centres across Ontario.
If you visit one of these centres before July 4,2010 you can enter a free draw to win one of four grand prizes for a getaway in Niagara Falls Ontario. See you later. I'm on my way to make another visit and to fill out another ballot. Here's a photo of the Tourism Councillors at the Open House.

Cindy Can anyone tell me if we need pass ports to voew the falls?
Cindy I'm not quite sure what you mean. It is not necessary to have a passport to view the falls. But if you are travelling into Canada to see the falls you will require a passport to enter Canada. Hope this helps.
Keerthana Kamalavasan It was just announced today that Ontario is updating alcohol laws. This means all those unnecessary barriers for events and festivals are eliminated so we can enjoy our summer weather even more! This will improve tourism and local economies, especially in the Niagara region. - Festivals don't need beer tents anymore, people can walk around freely through the event - Restaurants and bar servers can take drinks on public sidewalks to patios - Events such as fundraisers and weddings can serve alcohol for an extra hour until 2am - All-inclusive vacation packages can now be sold in Ontario - Business owners can give a complimentary drink to customers when celebrating a special occasion like an anniversary
George Bailey Keerthana, thank you for the information
