NIAGARA FALLS - STILL A POPULAR HONEYMOON ATTRACTION

Springtime is a popular time to honeymoon at Niagara. I at one time played the game to myself, “Spot the Honeymooners”. I was almost always correct in spotting the honeymooners (accept the ones that were on a practice honeymoon) by looking at the way they only looked at themselves and no one else around them. They were always holding hands. They often twirled their wedding rings and most assuredly wore new clothing. I’d surprise them by wishing them all the best on their Niagara Falls honeymoon.
Niagara Falls received its reputation as the “Honeymoon Capital of the World" when the daughter of Aaron Burr, the 3rd president of the United States chose to honeymoon in Niagara Falls in 1801. A few years later Jerome Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon, and his bride did the same thing. Today, over 50,000 start their married life with a Niagara Honeymoon.

You are close though, Aaron Burr was Thomas Jefferson's 1st Vice President. Burr was killed in a duel by Alexander Hamilton, another one of the USA's founding fathers and an opponent of Jeffersons. alexander Hamilton is the founder of the US Federal Reserve system

What exactly is there to do for newlyweds here? We're in our early 20's and would like to stay in a nicer hotel, and eat in nicer restaurant at least once. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Tracey, There are plenty of places for honeymooners to explore and loads of top-notch hotels/motels and bed and Breakfasts to choose to put your heads down on for the evening. It would be un-fair for me to mention any particular place but check out Tourism Niagara's website for description. There are as number of night clubs to keep you busy in the early evening.
