Three finalist will be chosen at this years New Year's Eve event (it’s also free) in Queen Victoria Park opposite the falls in the heart of Queen Victoria Park. It has just been announced that the headlining act will be Simple Plan, a pop punk band from Montreal This televised New Years Eve celebration (part of the CAA Winter Festival of Lights, which continues until January 31, 2012) attracts about 40,000 spectators each year. There are even two fireworks displays over the falls. There’s one at 8:45pm for the kids and another at midnight for older folks. Incidentally, some of the earliest photographs ever taken were of Niagara Falls. H.L. Pattinson in April of 1840 took eight Daguerreotype photographs. Try your hand at photographing the falls.
