George Bailey Bio for Niagara Falls Blog

From the moment you start up a conversation about Niagara Falls with George Bailey you know he loves everything about the waterfall. It's history, it's glamour, and
it's intrigue. George lives, breaths and talks Niagara Falls.
He comes by it honestly. As a young boy of eight he was transplanted to Niagara Falls from his native land of Newfoundland when his father, Manny Bailey took a job as
a captain of the world famous Maid of the Mist. He would spend countless hours as a young boy on the 'Maid' getting wet and soaking in Niagara's charm.
He continues to this day seeking out new things about the falls that intrigues him.
He's been working since the age of 16 (he's now a youthful 64 year old) in the Niagara hospitality industry. For close to 25 years he served as The Niagara Parks
Commission's Director of Marketing and Communications. Other stints had him managing a Niagara Falls Sheraton Hotel and Marketing Director of the Skylon Tower. Over
the years he has escorted and photographed lots of high profile individuals on personal tours of the falls including Princess Diana and her two children William and Harry ( get
him to tell you about his Diana photos), The Duke and Duchess of York, President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn, The Crown Prince of Japan and lots of movie stars.
He has a story to tell about each of them.
He has written five full colour guide books on Niagara Falls: The Magic of Niagara, The Niagara Falls Question and Answer Book, Daredevils Over Niagara, The Niagara
Book-Facts, Figures and the Famous and his most recent a history of the Maid of the Mist .You'll find these publications in Niagara area stores. A new one is now in
the making about Weird and Wonderful Niagara.
He has written numerous articles on Niagara and appeared on several documentaries, travel shows, and popular televison shows as an 'expert' on Niagara Falls. Bailey
has been interviewed on the Discovery Channel, CNN, Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Canada AM and ABC's Good Morning America. He is a sought after Niagara speaker and
his animated style of delivery is what the audience wants.
George Bailey is an award winning photographer and one of his photographs 'Maid in the Mist' captured top prize in a national photo contest. All of his published
books contain his photographs. George likes to tell stories and although he enjoy telling about Niagara's history he says, I like to visit the past but I don't live
there. Today's Niagara has lots of new stories to tell. You can see why some people call him, 'Mr. Niagara'.
